Shloka no. 1

तद्दुःखसंयोगा व्याधय उच्यन्ते ||२३|| Su. Su. 1

Word meaning:

तत् = that

दुःख = pain

संयोगा = junction/ cause / association

व्याधय = disease

उच्यन्ते = called

Shloka meaning;

The association of pain is called as the disease.


Shloka no. 3

विकारो धातुवैषम्यं, साम्यं प्रकृतिरुच्यते|

सुखसञ्ज्ञकमारोग्यं, विकारो दुःखमेव च||४|| Ch. Su. 9

Word meaning:

विकारो = disease

धातुवैषम्यं = धातु- dhatu, वैषम्यं= disequilibrium/ inequality  

साम्यं = equilibrium/ equality

प्रकृतिरुच्यते= प्रकृतिः- normalcy, उच्यते- called

सुखसञ्ज्ञकमारोग्यं = सुख- happiness/ comfort, सञ्ज्ञकं- called, आरोग्यं- health

विकारो =disease

दुःखमेव = दुःखं- pain, ऐव- surly

Shloka meaning:

The imbalance in the dhatus is called as the disease and the balance is called as the health. Happiness is called as the health and suffering is called as the disease.


Shloka no. 2

कुपितानां हि दोषाणां शरीरे परिधावताम् |

यत्र सङ्गः खवैगुण्याद्व्याधिस्तत्रोपजायते [१८] ||१०|| Su. Su. 24.

Word meaning:

कुपितानां = increased

हि = only

दोषाणां = doshas

शरीरे = in body

परिधावताम् = moves

यत्र = where

सङ्गः = stays/ attaches

खवैगुण्याद्व्याधिस्तत्रोपजायते= ख-space- here channels/ srotus, वैगुण्यात्- defect, व्याधि: - disease, तत्र- there, उपजयते- originates.


Shloka meaning:

The vitiated doshas moving in the body manifests the disease where there are defects in the srotus.
